Simple Interferometry Tutorial

This tutorial will be done as a group. We will examine a 400 MHz satellite beacon collection on two antennas. This will use previously collected data due to the times of the satellite overflights.

1. Discuss the two antennas used in the collection and the analog configuration.

2. Examine MIDAS-M tuner configuration for obtaining satellite data. Discuss configuration of system used.

3. Examine Echotek digital receiver configuration. Discuss the configuration used.

4. Plot spectral time intensity for the each data file.

5. Note the RFI, satellite beacon signal, time of satellite overflight, and maximum SNR.

6. Note the differences between the two antennas (turnstile versus discone).

7. Plot the magnitude of the cross spectrum time as a function of time. Discuss.
